The seating had reversible backrests.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Concerts were held regularly until 1937. Subsequently a brick built building was added to the front which was used as a gym centre as can be seen in the above watercolour sketch by Alwyn Sampson dating back to the 1980s. The brick building was removed in 1999.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Between 1999 and 2006 the Proscenium Building fell into disrepair.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Montpellier Gardens and the Proscenium Building were extensively refurbished in 2006\/2007 thanks to a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund\u2019s Public Parks Initiative Programme and a significant contribution from Cheltenham Borough Council.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The Cheltenham Borough Council leased the building to The Gardens Gallery Community Interest Company (see About Us) who converted the interior into into an art exhibition space.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The Gardens Gallery was officially opened on the 9<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;June 2007 by international artist P J Crook.&nbsp; &nbsp;Since then it has provided local artists with an outstanding space in which to exhibit their art and for other community arts related activities to take place.<\/span><\/h4>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column col_shadow=&#8221;&#8221; width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1710415677547{background-color: #ffffff !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}&#8221;][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=&#8221;sidebar-1&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1707825118402{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;border-left-color: #000000 !important;border-right-color: #000000 !important;border-top-color: #000000 !important;border-bottom-color: #000000 !important;}&#8221; line_height=&#8221;2.0&#8243;] &nbsp;The Gardens Gallery is located within the Proscenium Building in the beautiful Montpellier Gardens in Cheltenham.
